About the Journal Club Support Program

JBJS established the Robert Bucholz Resident Journal Club Support Program to foster attendance and participation by residents in orthopaedic journal clubs.

Robert Bucholz, MD, former Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, served JBJS as a reviewer for 35 years and as Deputy Editor for Adult Reconstruction and Trauma for 27 years. He ran the orthopaedic journal club in Dallas every month for over 35 years, continuing until the month before his death in 2016.

The Journal Club Support comes in the amount of $1,500 (USD), and it can be used in a variety of ways to support journal club activities: providing refreshments or renting a conducive venue, funding a visiting professor (perhaps even a JBJS Deputy Editor or reviewer), creating a virtual library of analytical resources on methodology and statistics, or any other purchase that enhances the journal club experience.

The deadline to submit applications for the 2021-2022 is now closed. Winners of the stipend will be announced soon.
